ABOUT US

Bay Women Association Network (BAYWAN) is a leading non-profit, non-partisan organization based in the Southwest State of Somalia. Founded in 2018 by a collective of local professionals and Somali women from the diaspora, BAYWAN is committed to fostering socio-economic and socio-political empowerment across the region. Our organization is rooted in a deep commitment to promoting gender equality, responding to humanitarian needs, and driving sustainable development.

Our objective is to build climate resilience and improve livelihoods by addressing climate change challenges. We implement community-specific climate adaptation projects, conduct educational workshops, advocate for climate-sensitive policies, and promote climate-smart agricultural practices and renewable energy technologies.
Peace Building and Reconciliation:

We aim to foster peace and reconciliation through dialogue, mediation, and community engagement. We facilitate dialogue sessions, mediation workshops, and training programs for local leaders and civil society organizations, and support cultural projects that promote healing and resilience.
Resilience:

At BAYWAN, we believe in the power of community-driven change. Our purpose is to support and empower women, youth, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and rural populations. We are dedicated to creating a society where all individuals have the opportunity to thrive and where women’s rights are upheld and respected. Through our work, we aim to address the multifaceted challenges faced by these communities, including economic disparity, gender inequality, and environmental sustainability.

  BAYWAN is governed by a dedicated team of experienced professionals who bring a wealth of knowledge and expertise in community development. Our team is passionate about making a positive impact and is committed to upholding the organization’s core values. We are registered under the Ministry of Planning, Investment, and Economic Development of the Southwest State of Somalia, ensuring compliance with national regulations and standards.

• Our approach is deeply participatory, involving the communities we serve in every step of our projects. We collaborate closely with local and international partners, including development agencies, government entities, the private sector, and civil society organizations. This collaborative approach allows us to leverage resources, share knowledge, and implement holistic solutions that address the root causes of the challenges faced by our communities.

At Bay Women Association Network (BAYWAN), our commitment is to transform lives and build resilient communities through a comprehensive approach. We enhance health by improving WASH services, offering free medical camps, and managing malnutrition. Our efforts to ensure food security include supporting sustainable agriculture and providing food distribution. We foster peace and reconciliation through dialogue, mediation, and advocacy. In emergencies, we provide timely assistance with shelter, clean water, and food supplies. We empower women and girls by expanding educational opportunities and promoting gender equality, while also addressing climate change through adaptation projects. Our dedication to protection and care includes reducing gender-based violence and offering support through safety centers and child-friendly spaces. Each initiative reflects our unwavering resolve to improve lives and create a more equitable and sustainable future.
