Courtesy Visit from United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia – UNSOM Staff at Bay Women Association Network Office in Baidoa!

Today, we were honored to receive a courtesy visit from the UNSOM staff at our Baidoa office. During our insightful discussions, we explored the critical role of gender balance and the importance of women’s participation in grassroots peacebuilding.

We highlighted the need for ensuring 30% women’s inclusion in leadership, advocating for their voices in decision-making processes and political leadership. Our conversation emphasized creating space for minority and marginalized groups, including women and youth, so they can take an active role in shaping policies and initiatives for peace.

Additionally, we discussed the significant contributions of women in conflict early warning, early response, and national reconciliation efforts. Together, we are committed to strengthening women’s participation in these key areas to foster sustainable peace in our communities.

BAYWAN remains dedicated to empowering women and promoting inclusive leadership for a brighter future.
